As part of Costa Cruises’ ongoing investment to improve the quality and sustainability of its fleet, Costa Mediterranea was dry docked at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo from November 21, 2013 to December 4 2013, for planned maintenance work. Costa Cruises’ invested more than €4 million to perform the routine refurbishment, which takes place approximately every two and a half years to keep the fleet fresh and modern. The renewal work included restoration of the ship’s hull, and a full renovation of the ship’s interior including the replacement of the carpets, curtains and upholstery. Specially for Costa Mediterranea Italian artist Gigi Rigamonti has produced an entire wall with Matisse-like dancers in the foyer of cruise ship.
Costa cruises are the largest cruise ship company in Europe and with their wealth of experience in meeting passenger needs, the Costa Mediterranea is expected to provide it all.
Cabins on board will provide passengers with everything they need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. There are 1,057 cabin, 660 with private balconies and 58 luxurious 'suites'.
Cuisine on board will reflect the areas visited. Traditional and local recipes will be offered, alongside the usual culinary delights that are served on board.
There are four swimming pools and four Jacuzzis. The Ischia Spa will provide a state of the art gymnasium, treatment rooms, a sauna and Turkish bath.
Entertainment promises to be every bit as spectacular as the ship itself. The three storey Osiris Theatre will provide explosive performances and captivating acts. The twelve themed bars will all provide an oasis for a relaxing drink and the disco on board will be open late. There will be a Casino for those who like a flutter, this will have all the regular tables along with slot machines.
Excursions are planned in great detail and they will be arranged purposely in small groups, with a maximum of 25 people. This tends to make these much more sociable and affable occasions, where new found friends can be made. There will be plenty of themed excursions including food and wine tastings.
Families will delight in a cruise aboard the neoClassica. The children’s Squok Club will keep the little ones entertained, giving parents a much needed reprieve.
The Mediterranea with its fabulous itineraries and atmosphere will be a cruise ship that suits, families, couples and singles alike.
