Siobhan with her adventure upon the NCL ENCORE!
I am Siobhan and I am based at our Preston store and we are about to celebrate our 1-year anniversary of opening. I have been in travel for almost 5 years and since day 1 my passion for travel has blossomed along with my knowledge!
I have been extremely lucky throughout my travel career to experience some of the most amazing destinations our world has to offer and this weekend was no exception as I was given the exciting ‘job’ of boarding the NCL Encore to cruise from Bremerhaven to Southampton.
I am going to be completely honest and tell you all that my cruise knowledge has room for improvement, however, this ship has blown me away and I have come back fully understanding exactly why a lot of my customers get the compulsion for cruising and why they describe cruising as addictive!
I arrived to board the ship at 4.30pm and checked in, the staff were friendly and efficient and within 15 minutes I was making my way to my Balcony Stateroom extremely excited but also not really knowing what to expect as I entered the ship. I could not have prepared myself for the breath-taking image that met me in the main atrium with the most exquisite diamond chandelier which draped across 5 decks, I knew from this moment I was in for a phenomenal experience.
The Balcony stateroom slept up to 4 people and at 17m2 there was plenty of space and storage to ensure a luxury and organised cruise once unpacked! The TV that was on the wall of your cabin allowed me to make reservations for speciality dining and all of the on-board entertainment saving time and making it simple.
I am a self-confessed foody and the Encore promises “unlimited ways to please your palate”, I can honestly say NCL absolutely kept this promise by taking my taste buds on holiday! I loved that NCL have no fixed dining times or pre-assigned seating allowing me to holiday at my own pace. I was truly spoilt for choice; did I choose Cagney’s Steakhouse for an authentic Premium Black Angus Steak with the most amazing truffle fries on the side or do I go for the seafood fettuccine in the LA Cucina Italian Restaurant with the most traditional Italian Décor?
Entertainment on board NCL Encore quite simple … when the sun goes down your evening heats up! Theatre for me personally isn’t a hobby anymore it’s a way of life and nothing makes me happier than a good show with lots of singing and audience participation to help me escape the real world. I had the pleasure of watching two live shows whilst on board, the first being Choir of Man which is set in a pub in Ireland following their journey through obstacles they face in life and it the audience wanted more and more and more…. The second show we watched was the smash Broadway musical Kinky Boots which featured music and lyrics from Cyndi Lauper, I think throughout this show we laughed and cried and genuinely felt like we had been a part of the show! If you’re sick of the rush hour traffic with the kids on the school run, NCL offers a different kind of rush hour for all the family! NCL have a two-tier electric car race track, laser tag and with two multi-storey waterslides on board they keep the thrills coming over and over again, some would say NCL offer a constant ENCORE!
The NCL Encore invited me to my debut cruise as she embarked on her debut sailing and I will be forever grateful for being involved in such a beautiful experience. I finished my cruise with a handcrafted cocktail whilst sat on Deck 15 in the Observation Lounge which gave me a 180-degree panoramic view of the North Sea, perfect for watching the sunset whilst contemplating where to book my second cruise because let’s face it why would I not go back to something so perfect!
