CUNARD QUEEN VICTORIA
The Queen Victoria was first launched in 2007. Out of the three liners that make up the Cunard fleet, this elite ocean cruiser is the one that completely transcends the years. It takes you back to yesteryear when cruise ships displayed that real sense of unashamed grandeur and opulence. The deep history of Edwardian and Victorian times is marvellously apparent in the ships interior styling. Fabulous wood, polished marble and plush fabrics adorn all of the fixtures and fittings giving it a real look and feel of olde worldly timeless, classical elegance.
Appearances can be deceptive however and despite the historic feel of the Queen Victoria, its appearance definitely belies the fact that the ship contains all of the modern comforts you would expect of a luxury liner today. Everything from the sumptuous accommodation to the gastronomic cuisine offered aboard it is first class. It encompasses all of the usual expectations, yet it has so much more to offer than other liners and has an ambience that no other ship could replica.
Accommodation aboard the Queen Victoria is superb, from the luxuriant Queens and Princess Grill Suites to the extremely comfortable Oceanview and Inside Staterooms. The rooms are all incredibly spacious and relaxing. If you choose to stay in the sensational Grill Suites then you can expect to receive not only a fabulous suite, but also exceptional service along with a butler who will be at your disposal to cater to your every need. The Grill Suites are remarkably large with walk in wardrobes and extensive private balconies.
Dining on the Queen Victoria is akin to eating out in the finest of restaurants. There are three main restaurants and the all new Verandah Restaurant, the food and dishes available in all will leave you aghast. There are culinary delights to tempt even those with the most discerning of palates. In the Grill Restaurants the variety of gourmet dishes on offer will leave you spoilt for choice. This alongside sophisticated and beautiful surroundings, fine crystal glassware and a fabulous selection of fine wines will have you eagerly awaiting your meal every evening.
The many bars, cafes and lounges that are available on board offer panoramic views along with style and comfort. Whether you are looking for an amazing cocktail, a simple aperitif, your drink of choice or afternoon tea the choice is vast. If you need educating on how to make the perfect martini, they even offer mixology classes to enlighten you.
Entertainment on Cunard’s Queen Victoria is extensive whether you want to be pampered, participate or ponder as the world sails on by. You can enrich your mind by attending one of the speaker programmes where both historical and contemporary issues are explored or attend a book club to discuss your literary views. All will leave you with food for thought to mull over on your journey. If you prefer a day of relaxation then a visit to The Royal Spa or one of the on board swimming or whirlpools will leave you completely refreshed. If you like to keep fit then there are a range of fitness classes and a state of the art ultramodern gymnasium. The facilities available on board the Queen Victoria are endless with a library, theatre, casino, computer centre, museum, art gallery, shopping centre and so much more. They also have a vast range of children’s facilities to keep the younger ones occupied throughout your voyage.
Evening entertainment on the Queen Victoria consists of every conceivable pastime imaginable. The Empire Casino offers a vast array of games for those who like a flutter and at the Hemisphere Club you can dance the night away to music played by the resident DJ; the glass domed roof adds that extra special effect to the club.
